Need advice from pro Forex traders

I've heard of Fx market a long time but I just started learning a month ago, I've watched crash courses on YouTube, courses on udemy and now I'm learning on babypips. I have few E-books to read alongside online courses, I'm planning on trading demo for at least three months if successful, I'll deposit $100 to trade live then compound it. Any advice/suggestions, learning tips from pro traders??

CBOE Bitcoin Futures: Trading advice from a seasoned stock+options+forex trader

Disclaimer: This is only my opinion. Nobody knows what will happen in the future, but this is what I will be doing.
TLDR: If you own Bitcoin already: don't sell. If you want to buy more, watch the market over the next few days (especially the next few hours) for good opportunities.
I've been a professional (other people's money) stock, options, and FOREX day-trader for a few years, and have many more years of non-professional (my own money) experience.
In about one hour (6PM Eastern Time), the Chicago Board Options Exchange will begin trading Bitcoin futures under the ticker XBT.
A short explanation of futures trading: Traders bet on the future price on an asset, in this case Bitcoin. Instead of actually trading Bitcoin, they are trading contracts that give the right to buy or sell the asset at a certain price. Futures exist for many assets, including but not limited to Gold, Silver, Wheat, Corn, Soy, the S&P500, etc.... Read more on futures here.

What does this mean for Bitcoin?

The addition of this new security will make a big impact on Bitcoin trading. Bitcoin will see a huge increase in trading volume and, consequently, short-term volatility. Eventually, the addition of volume will cause the price to stabilize. However, the new traders will likely cause a frenzy of buying and selling that, for the near future, will cause huge spikes in both directions. Again, in the long-term, the price should stabilize from the additional liquidity, but the influx of traders will temporarily destabilize the market.
Other than the price, the introduction of Bitcoin to mainstream traders will further support the growth of Bitcoin as a currency. I am very pro-Bitcoin long-term.
Watch this video from Andreas Antonopoulos for his insight on the CBOE.

My Plan

This is my opinion. I cannot predict the future with certainty, and there is a very good chance I will be wrong. Be smart with your trading to protect you when you're wrong.
Today I sold about half of my Bitcoin at a profit after buying during yesterday's mini-correction. My plan is to hold the other half through the chaos. I am anticipating major price swings in both directions over the next few hours/days, so I intend to buy back the Bitcoin I sold if/when the price dips considerably. In the event that the price skyrockets, I still have half of my Bitcoin. In the event that the price tanks downwards, I can buy much more Bitcoin to bring my average Bitcoin price down significantly.
If you already have Bitcoin, I suggest holding it tight. If you want to buy more, you may see some very good opportunities in the near future.
Good luck! :)
EDIT: Although futures trading started tonight, most traders will not engage in trading until tomorrow morning.
Thanks for the gold!

What advice can you give to begginer Forex traders? Should one open demo or live, should one buy a course or use free videos?

To anyone that's a full-time trader and makes more than 50% of their income from FOREX what advice would you have for someone trying to accomplish that? Also, are there any books you'd recommend that helped make you a better trader?

I've been trading for over a year now. I was very skeptical with this at first, but I am now seeing this can turn in to a great opportunity if utilized correctly. I won lots of trades early in my career and I feel it might've gotten to my head as I was able to turn a $500 account in to $1000 within a matter of a couple weeks. I of course took some losses and was able to overcome those after some time. I eventually got the account up to $4500 after about 8months.
However, Over the next 2-3months after that I saw myself losing the money I had gained. Eventually my account got down to $0. I've since took a break since I was frustrated and wanted to learn more. I've been watching videos and practice trading, and read a book while also reading this thread for tips and tried to stay on top of the market. However, I feel like I want to learn more and apply myself so I can make this a full-time gig. It's enjoyable for me, and it seems like a lucrative business. I just want some ideas on how people have become successful on their own, and what advice they may have received or criticism they may have gotten on the journey to being able to produce. Also, I'd love to know if there are any books you would recommend that may have helped you become a better trader. Thanks for the support in advance!

Advice for novice ForeX traders

Hi! Due to personal circumstances I currently have a lot of spare time alongside part-time work. Rather than playing computer games I thought it might be more productive/beneficial for me to learn a new skill.
I'm looking to try and understand the ins & outs of forex and really teach myself to trade smart.
Can anyone recommend (cheap books, videos, websites to look at for advice/information). The majority of stuff I have found useful you need to sign up for.
Also, I'm from the UK - What broker / software should I be using (i'll only be using demo for now and real when I feel comfortable).
Lastly, any final words of wisdom from the Forex veteran traders out there? or things you would have liked to have known before trading?
Thanks!

IAmA Request: A successful Forex trader to share some advice for newbies

submitted by billcurry to IAmA [link] [comments]

Here's some trading advice from a fellow trader

I currently manage around half a million dollars and have been trading for 6+ years with 3 years of consistent profitability. Paid for my trading lessons the hard way by losing a lot of money at first. Here's some advice that might help you.
1) Treat trading like a business. I know you probably heard this 100 times before but I feel like I should emphasize this point. Majority of traders overestimate their ability to make money and underestimate their risk exposure.
2) Think long term. The more complex your trading system is, the less freedom it has in terms of flexibility because of too many variables in your analysis. So, keep your trading system simple.
3) Do not rationalize or predict the market. Do not look for comfort in your strategy. In fact, do the reverse. Find comfort in the thought that markets are chaotic and there's always a good chance of you losing a lot of money. This should keep you up on your toes and controls your greed during a profitable streak (You are not a money printing machine, trust me. )
4) Every trade you open should be assumed as a loss. This is very important in terms of having a healthy mindset towards managing risk. I never open a position based on how much money I can make. I do it based on how much I can afford to lose in this particular trade.
5) Biggest mistake I have observed while working with other traders is not doing their homework. If you don't plan your trades before the day even began, then you will develop a mindset of chasing the market which will lead to your downfall. Which brings me to my next point
6) Maintain three things - a) your daily trading notes that you read before you begin trading b) market observation notes which includes particular strategies and observations in specific markets and c) a full fledged trading journal where you record everything you traded. Always remember that majority of your trading work is done when you're not trading.
7) Journaling is the most important and also most neglected part of trading and most traders, including some very good traders do it in a wrong way. How do I know that?
Let me ask you something : Tell me about what kind of trading setups were the most and least profitable in the last 100 trades. Explain them to me in detail including your analysis and opinion on what you think might have happened.
If you can answer this in detail and with specific examples from your last 100 trades then I know you have a good journaling habit. If you cannot , then it's time to improve on your record keeping. Remember that your journals are the only way you can guarantee that you will grow as a trader.
8) Remember this no matter what - Not having a position in the market is itself a position if you know what you are doing. There's no need for you to always trade all day everyday and try to make money. In fact, I can guarantee you that markets will not always behave according to your trading system and during those times trying to "find a needle in a haystack " type of behavior is reckless and will take an emotional toll on your mind. Just sit on the sidelines if the market isn't moving according to your system.
9) There's no thing as overbought or oversold scenarios especially in forex. Heaving a bearish bias because the market moved up by a lot is just ridiculous and most likely guarantee that you miss out on bullish scenarios. If you start developing a bearish bias after a huge bullish move then you better have a damn good reason for it instead of just saying " It moved up by a lot so I'm expecting a reversal".
10) This one is a personal opinion. Always remember to take breaks and relax during the weekends. Managing stress while maintaining performance is a huge part of the job and I don't want you to burn out after a few months of serious trading everyday. Maintain a decent social life outside of trading to keep your sanity intact. Get some hobbies. Your health and well being is very important to your long term performance as a trader so don't neglect it.
